NZFRI - Herbarium Acronym

There are now about 4000 herbaria world-wide.

A catalogue of public herbaria, “Index Herbariorum”, is published by the International Association for Plant Taxonomy.

Each herbarium in “Index Herbariorum” has an official code or acronym, used for referring to the institution and its specimens.

The standard international acronym for the National Forestry Herbarium is NZFRI, derived from the legal name of our institute “New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited” which has the brand name “Scion”.
