Bioplastics Workshop
![]() |
The bioplastics sector is one of the fastest developing sectors globally, offering huge potential for New Zealand companies that are ready to capitalise on the opportunities.
Stimulated by demand from eco-conscious consumers, the market is growing more than 20% each year. Annual production is predicted to exceed 20 million tonnes by 2015, and by 2020 a quarter of all plastics could be bioplastic.
This workshop will help you to understand the opportunities and how your company can successfully adopt bioplastics products and packaging for economic gain. It will examine the basics of, and the most recent advances in, bioplastics, illustrated with a series of case studies.
Programme:
Topics include:
- The market drivers behind the current bioplastics boom
- A breakdown of bioplastics available today: what they are used for, where to get them, their strengths and limitations, processing requirements
- A truly sustainable alternative to EPS (polystyrene) foam
- Turning waste into environmentally-friendly bioplastics and packaging
- What you can say on the label
- Help with your projects, including how to access funding
