For Students

If you are a student with an interest in rural fire research or management, Scion offers opportunities for projects from Honours to PhD level.

Project options cover a range of disciplines (fire science, vegetation/fuels modelling, weather and climatic impacts on fire, fire economics, firefighter/human factors, social research).

In some instances scholarship funding may be available.

If you are interested in exploring these possibilities or wish to find out more, contact Grant Pearce.

Scion's Christchurch office is based at the University of Canterbury, in the School of Forestry building. Our fire scientists provide lectures to students attending Forestry and Fire Engineering courses at the University of Canterbury.
