Scion's Dr Trevor Stuthridge talks to RNZ Checkpoint's Mary Wilson about a project aimed at ending New Zealand's summertime plague of algal bloom. The project involved the modification of zeolite, a naturally occurring volcanic mineral, which enhanced its ability to absorb phosphorus from lake waters. An initial full-scale lake trial in the Rotorua region has provided very positive results so far.
