Maximising Incident Learning Opportunities (MILO) Project
The Incident Learning Review has been designed to maximise learning opportunities from adverse events. We can identify strategies that result in meaningful change across the sector to prevent future occurrences of similar nature.
The workshop is a practical, interactive demonstration of the impact and success of accident prevention through learning, using the Learning Review. The workshop includes two sessions, beginning with a half day concept workshop. The participants will then return to their workplace with resources and tools to conduct their own Learning Review on an incident of their choosing. The participants will be able to contact the facilitators throughout the week with any queries on the process.
When we reconvene for the second session a week and a half later, each participant will present their Learning Review and findings. This approach, based on research, provides the best opportunity to understand the theoretical underpinnings of the new method, learn how to undertake a learning review in a supported, practical environment and a chance to experience the beneficial effects of its application.
Not only that, each company gets a free learning review performed on one of their incidents – encouraging the sharing of learning and insightful, innovative solutions.
The workshop has been ideally designed for operations/forest managers, harvesting managers or interested operational personnel. The workshop offers classroom style interactive discussions with practical and theoretical content and examples, including the use of techniques and related exercises. Each participant will be provided with workshop resources and supporting notes/information. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to take their practical experience back to the workplace and apply Learning Review concepts. On successful completion of the workshop, certificates will be issued.
Wednesday 12 June, 9:00am – 12:30pm
